Bringing the future home
In 2018 our company established New Zealand's first open Internet of Things (IoT) research network using Weightless LPWAN technology. Based in our community in the Manawatū, we asked what will a Māori Future Farm look like and what can technology do to meet this vision. To answer this we have been working with local Māori farmers and our wider community to understand how technologies like IoT will assist our Māori land owners and farmers to succeed sustainability and financially, while positively contributing to the local community.
In 2020 we will launch a pilot Advanced Wireless Research Network (AWRN), using the next generation of mobile wireless technology, focusing on rural applications and business models. We believe just because we choose to live in rural communities we shouldn't be the last on the list to access these critical technologies. One of the first projects to come out of this work will be the development of a new type mesh sensor platform for the quick deployment of senors in the field.
